I design many sites with a back end administration area where you can maintain the site yourself. You would upload an image and assign it to a category/artist via a user-friendly form and provide some content and a title etc... for each image - so you would require no programming knowledge at all. Your webpages would be dynamic and pull the info from your database which you are populating via your admin area. I can provide some URLs on request.

We have recently created a web site for an art gallery using our industrial-strength CMS (content management system). It included functions such as: managing artists, managing sets of artworks, creating/managing \"exhibitions\". Within each exhibition, you can create one or several \"rooms\" and decide which images are shown in which room (one image can appear in more than one room). Sold artwork can be marked as such and appear with a red dot. Past exhibitions can be moved into anarchive. Of course, any number of generic sections and page can also be managed through the interface.
