The design will consist of a 2 column widget ready Wordpress theme based off of the specifications provided by a powerpoint presentation provided by client. The layout will be based in part on [url removed, login to view] and the Developer will this as an example for the theme's creation.

Technical

I. Wordpress Theme. The overall look and feel should be based on the powerpoint supplied and inspiration from WebMD. There will be no advertisements on the site. The theme should be widget ready. The Designer will create two alternate versions an the Client will be permitted to make one round of alterations to the selected design. The theme will include the following elements:

a. The header will include the MGH banner, a search box, and a horizontal drop down menu. The horizontal drop down menu in the header will show the Pages and first level of Subpages that are entered into wordpress. It will order them according to the order specified in wordpress, will allow pages to be excluded from menu using a presently available plugin, and will be dynamic in that as new pages are added, reordered, or removed, the menu will rebuild itself accordingly. We anticipate that it will include these items:

b. Footer: needs to include copyright info and gift info on footer of present homepage

c. Home Page: the home page will have a different layout from the other pages. As mocked up, it will have the common header described above, but will not have the same two column layout as other pages. Instead, there will be a large picture that changes based on mouseover of a menu beneath it that created from the names of the subpages under “Reproductive Psychiatry” and will act as a means to navigate to those subpages. To the right of this it will show the headlines from recent blog posts and will allow you to link to those posts. The default picture on homepage should be the existing mother/baby picture that we have.

d. Subpages: The Blog page itself and all the subpages, with the possible exception of the "staff" section will use a common 2 column layout where the blog or content will appear in in the right column, and the sidebar will be in the left column

II. The Staff Section will show the staff picture, their name, title, biography, and links to articles in pubmed or links to pdf’s that can be downloaded from our site. If this requires a separate template than the other subpages, one will be created.

III. The Directions page will include Google direction feature

IV. The site will allow us to show an alternative version of pages that are in Spanish by redirecting them to a duplicate site in a /es/ directory (Client would provide the translation)

V. Newsletter

a. A newsletter plugin such as Tribulant will be deployed that will allow a newsletter to be sent to our existing database of 3000+ subscribers by allowing entries into the blog to be assembled into a newsletter. This newsletter should be based on a template that resembles the blog page of the website and includes the MGH header and Center for Women's Health Banner. The email system presently sends out the newsletter as either HTML, PDF, URL link, or text. If any of these options are not technically possible with the new system, affected users will need to be migrated to a different format, and the database and signup will need to be modified accordingly.

b. The signup form for the newsletter will be redesigned using CAPTCHA technology and will now include asking for the state.

i. The signup will allow users to

1. signup for newsletter

2. opt in/out of newsletter emails

3. opt in/out of notification of new blog posts

c. The existing mysql newsletter database will be backed up and migrated to a new database that is compatible with the newsletter module.

VI. Research registry

[url removed, login to view]

Will be recreated using captcha technology similar to this page created using the Secure Contact Form plugin,

[url removed, login to view]

The Research registry page will permit us to post different research studies where each one have it own enrollment form. All research studies will collect the same information, but will create an email with a different title and have the ability to direct it to different people. It will collect all the data currently on

[url removed, login to view]

and will also add the following:

Would you like to participate in one of our active studies currently

listed on our website or would you like to be considered for a future

study?

___ current study ____ future study ___ both

VII. A search box will be created that allows the user to search our blog as well as google.

VIII. The site will be built using xhtml 1.0 transitional and CSS. The sites code will be validated and optimized to the best of our abilities to ensure cross browser compatibility in such browsers as Internet Explorer 6, Firefox, Safari and Opera.

IX. We will provide clean, easy to read code as well as a commented CSS file for further updates if necessary.

X. A template will be created from scratch for approval upon which we can work off of as a base for finalizing the product.

XI. Search Engine Optimization which includes adding and configuring various SEO Wordpress plugins.

XII. The content pages of the website will include a button within the theme that allows users to print the content areas of the page without the remaining navigation elements.
