I have 20 years experience writing tools in PHP/MySQL and other languages. From searchengines to complex analytics tools. The data returned is already in a well structured format (JSON). I am not familiar with Tableau but a quick search online suggests it can load in JSON format. The best solution could be the simplest, to download the raw JSON to a single database field, add a data download timestamp column and stick this download script on CRON. This said it would also be easily to create fileds for each piece of data and export to a format such as CSV. The format you used to export for Tableau would to some degree depend on what data you wanted to manipulate. Further details of your problem will enable me to provide a more accurate quote.
