I am looking for a bullet-point list (with simple, concise explanations) of talking points for a speech explaining how to establish and maintain a budget to quilters. 1,000 words. No filler language. Just the research in a bullet-point format.
My audience is bright, creative people with limited business knowledge. They would like to offer their finished quilts, new patterns and teaching skills for sale. But, they don't understand anything about how to establish or maintain a budget as they develop a business.
Here are some of their questions:
When quilting for fun on a limited income what is the best way to be able to afford to quilt without having to constantly buy low quality products?
I am a fairly new quilter, and the cost of this "hobby" came as quite a shock. What are the most important investments for quilters and what can be acquired for free/less money or in an alternate way (I just discovered self-healing cutting mats in the drafting section of a store for half of similar mats in the sewing section!)
Is it possible to make affordable and quality quilted gifts for all of our family/friends for the holidays? Or, Is it worth the investment to purchase a long-arm machine for fun/personal use vs purchasing for profit?
Other than a needle and thread, what supplies do I really need? Should I go high tech?
EQ 7. Is it worth the money for the average quilter. Do most EQ owners create their own quilt designs, or use it mostly for viewing a coordination of fabrics to decide on the their fabric selection?
What supplies do you need to start quilting?
