PHP function to detect and remove URLs from Text

In my vbulletin forum, most of my threads start with a picture, then the text. The problem is that when we look on search engines results, it looks like that : [login to view URL] So what we need to do is to automatically detect and remove urls from meta description (before they get generated). There is one file ([login to view URL]) that is responsible of the meta description generation. You would just need to create a php function that detects urls, such as this one : [login to view URL] In the file [login to view URL], we have only the first two "blocks" (without the comments), we need to add the third one : // this removes the bbcode of the post (bb code is like a simplified html code for forums) $thread['meta_description'] = strip_bbcode(strip_quotes($thread['description']), false, true); // this removes forbidden words (in case of admin wanted to censor some words) and removes html code $thread['meta_description'] = htmlspecialchars_uni(fetch_censored_text(fetch_trimmed_title($thread['meta_description'], 500, false))); // this is the function we need to create to remove urls before generating the final meta description $thread['meta_description'] = ignore_urls($thread['meta_description']); So we need to create the function "ignore_urls" that remove detectedurls. I know this is a problem with vbulletin engine but i've already asked them about sorting this issue and they said it was out of their charge... Thanks
