Modify Open Cart - Programming Task

I prefer that you don't "hack" OpenCart, but create a proper mod. I have done this project several times using other open source cart systems, so please don't try and make this more complicated than it should be. Let me first paint you a picture of the purpose of this system. Have you ever been to an event, a concert, an amusement park, somewhere that required you to buy a ticket? Yes? Great.. then you'll understand what we are about to do. An OpenSource shopping cart allows sellers to upload photos of items, both physical and digital, set the price and sell them online. We are going to modify the shopping cart to sell tickets. How? A feature or modification will be applied so that whenever someone is creating a new product to sell, there will be a radio button or drop-down that asks if the item you are creating is a "Ticket: YES/NO" If YES - then when that item is sold, an alphanumeric ID or string will be inserted into a table called "Tickets" and for each ticket purchased a 14 digit alphanuric string will be inserted into the table, and associated with the order_id, customer_name, date_time, order_total, product_name $characters = 'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789'; $string = ''; $max = strlen($characters) - 1; for ($i = 0; $i < $random_string_length; $i++) { $string .= $characters[mt_rand(0, $max)]; } $random_string_length is the length of the random string. The 14 digit alphanumeric string IS the ticket number... So if a customer buys a product called "Season Pass" and its configured as a ticket, then if he buys 6 of them, we'd generate "6" 14 digit alphanumeric strings, one for each ticket he purchased. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Order Emails will need to be modified to display each ticket number in the order email the customer will receive. They will need to be displayed as CODE39 bar-codes, which is easy because there are plenty of PHP classes to turn a string of numbers into a bar-code. We're going to check to make sure they are valid when the customer arrives! How? Through [login to view URL] - what does [login to view URL] do? That's easy.. it's an input form that allows a device called a bar-code scanner to type in the numbers directly into the form. You might ask yourself, will I need to code up this form in a special way for this device? No, not really.. your [login to view URL] will peform a look-up on the Tickets table and IF it finds a match, then the ticket ID row will be updated with a date_time stamp and username of who scanned it. Then if you scan that same ticket again, we will return a message: Ticket ID a7s02kjsd089y4 was used on 10/17/2047 @ 5:04pm This really isn't a super complicated project. Please don't make it that way. My budget will be $350 or less, if you can't or aren't interested in doing it for that price, it's easy, don't bid. I instantly recognize bidders that haven't fully read my project because their bids are more than my budget. That tells me you don't pay attention to detail and you probably won't be the type of programmer I like.. look at my feedback, I am a good buyer and I have completed many projects. Please don't waste my time, and I won't waste yours.
