Android App Issue

Job Details: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We're experiencing some issues with our server, it has become very slow. Here are the specifications: Server type: EC2 instance at aws: Ubuntu 14.04, [login to view URL] (1 vCPU & 1GB RAM), 20 GB Disk. The server is running apache2 + php5 + mysql. The database is not in the same server: it's an RDS instance (MySql 5.6) and located in the same local network in the same VPC. Server role: The server is an intermediate between the database (in RDS) and an android application, so there is no html, js files. There is just one folder that contains about 20 php files to communicate with the database and rturn the response in a Json format. We've another server with the same specification, where there is a web interface to communicate with the RDS db, the server is just for tow administrator currently and it's very fast. If we restart the server (the one witch is linked to the android application), the connection became fast only for the first 10 minutes, then it slows down. The number of our active users is 8,000 users per day, the android application is configured to connect to the server each 30 minutes. The server is using SSL (from GoDaddy) and the domain is managed by amazon. We tried moving from mpm_prefork to mpm_worker or mpm_event (and changed the MaxRequest workers params), but in vain. We installed FPM (FastCGI Process Manager) but also nothing changed. When we used FPM, we tried to load an html file and it was fast, but if we try to load a php file with just an "echo 'Hellow Wolrd'" it taks a long time to load. We now came back to the default configuration of apache and php. We don't believe that with number of user we've, we should move to nodeJs or NGix. The apache server-status tool is showing a max of 5% for CPU and 15 Req/second.
