Define .htaccess for Web Site Migration

Hello,

My name is Dave and I own a small family owned e-commerce site that is based upon the OSCommerce shopping cart open-source solution. We are almost done upgrading our website to a new template and one of our primary goals is to move the site to the root directory (for SEO purposes) from the current "/catalog/" directory.

Obviously, this move is going to require .htaccess work to ensure proper and effective 301 redirects. However, this work is complicated by the fact that we already have many 301 redirects as a result of a lingering issue with the old site. Luckily, the new site resolves that issue.

I need someone that can optimize our .htaccess files / methods in the most effective manner in order to keep them from being massive (they are already much larger than recommended = 192K). If you have questions, please reach out to me. I am also willing to provide my current .htaccess file upon request. Below are details of the task.

PS, if your prices are reasonable and you are interested, I have several other tasks that I need to have done rather quickly to support our migration.

DETAILS REGARDING THE .HTACCESS OPTIMIZATION TASK

Optimize the appropriate .htaccess files to support the site migration while ensuring the optimization takes the following into consideration:

I. Our old site has implemented a solution called "SEO Optimized URLs for OSCommerce Sites" which obviously produces URLs that are different from the standard OSCommerce item URLs. Because our (old site) Google Site Map and a couple of other pages still present the standard OSCommerce URLs, we have been forced to create 301 redirects for every product that we add to our site. Thus, the .htaccess file has become large (192k).

II. The new site is based upon a newer version of the OSCommerce shopping cart solution which already has "SEO Optimized URLs" included. However, the URLs generated by this never version are different from our current "SEO Optimized URLs". Thus, when we migrate our products to the new version, we must redirect all of the old SEO Optimized URLs to the new SEO Optimized URLs.

III. We are open to any suggestions including a PHP solution to drive the build of the redirects.

Thus, the job is for you to perform the necessary optimization in an effort to reduce the size of the .htaccess file while ensuring the 301 redirects are optimally defined for all active products and products that have been deactivated within the last 12 months. The following must be considered:

1) Our new site has its own SEO URLs. When we move our products over to the new site, the .htaccess must be modified to add redirects of the OLD SEO URLS to the NEW SEO URLS.

2) Modification must be made to the current redirects of our OLD NON-SEO urls to the NEW SEO URLS.

3) A bacic redirect will be required for everything from [url removed, login to view] to [url removed, login to view]

4) Leave the other redirects commands that are currently within the .htaccess.

5) Ensure this file is not larger than the recommended 20K.

I will attach the current .htaccess for your review. As you can see within the file, it currently is not all that complicated or large. The file mostly redirects our OLD NON-SEO urls to our current SEO URLS.

PS, I need this job completed within 10 days of agreement.
