Hello, I currently have a few applications which were developed by us in C#. Right now we're running these applications on a local webserver. However, one of clients has asked us to use it on multiple locations. This involves us to put the applications online instead of on our local webserver. Basically what our current software does, is to make a connection to the twitter-API and subscribe to a specific hashtag or username. Once that has happened, we start receiving JSON-formatted messages from the Twitter-API. We put these in a queue and then process them one by one. In the processing, we parse the message and we add the different parts of the message in our database. Afterwards, we will process the incoming data, but that part is already done. Currently we are using SQL Server and not MySQL. I assume we will have to migrate our database to MySQL. So what I'm looking for is someone to convert our application into a new webapplication, that can be used either on our local webserver as on an online webserver. Since we currently do not have the skills nor the time to master them we would need to outsource this project as we need it to be up and running quite fast. Preferably you will be working in C# and ASP.Net If you have any other questions, I'll be happy to replay to them. Happy bidding.

Hi I'm working with .Net (Asp.Net and desktop applications) and MS SQL Server for many years, you can check my resume and very few web sites in my portfolio. You do not need to change the database server, and can continue with MS SQL (it is better than MySQL to work with) and no need to migrate the data to MySQL. Only thing you must do is to get a domain name and a windows based hosting (with MS SQL) and let me take the web site to the newly bought place. Hi, I do not very understand what you want. Normally there is no difference between a web application is runing on a local webserver and a online webserver. So is your application special?

Hi, You not need to migrate to MySQL for webapp especially if it is ASP.Net/C#. The best is to use your existing MSSQL database. As you already have this application will be more good if you send the source code so I can follow it. C# code can be reuse i suppose in a many cases. This will speed the development time. Most important is to say what versions of MSSQL you use and .net framework of the project Best regards, Saykor

Hello Cainnech, Could you please send at least one application so that I can put a web based demo for you to look at? If you do not have source code, that is not a problem. I can find a way to do it. I am little confused why you were talking about changing to MySQL, is it something you want to have the new web app with? Hi, Yo don't need mysql for this, you can keep sql server as it is. I need the snapshots of the screens so that I can see what is required on the screens. In the webapplication we can use the same code in the back end , but need to develop the front end. Is this application maintains user profiles? Thanks, Arbab

Hello, My proposed solution is to develop the Web Application using following patterns and components: - A well-constructed Model-View-Presenter (MVP) framework: The advantages of this design pattern make the application Front-End independent. We can easily switch between client technologies (e.g from Web Forms to Win Forms) in further development with minimized efforts and cost if needed. MVP also makes Unit Testing easier and more convenient by mocking the View. I used to develop and use MVP in most ASP.NET applications. - NHibernate: Using NHibernate shall reduce time and efforts working with database. Firstly we will no longer need to write ton of queries to perform CRUD operations upon data. Secondly we will save most of the time for maintenance if it is needed to migrate from MySQL to another type of DBMS. NHibernate requires a long learning curve with developers. But this is not a problem with me. Additionally, NHibernate requires longer application startup time but with Web applications which rarely restart in production, it doesn't matter. First point I would like to make: you do NOT have to migrate your work to MySQL. One issue that may be of concern is your application itself. Based on your description, it sounds like the application is installed at a client site, and the one client is accessing it exclusively. Now you are proposing to have the application hosted publicly, so one client can access it from multiple locations. Is there anything in your software that will prevent that scenario from being successful? Do you have the infrastructure to publicly host your application for your clients? Is your client hosting the web app? Or do you need access to infrastructure to host the web app? I can assist you in all aspects of this project. I've been working with C# since v1.1 of the framework, and have done ASP.Net with C# codebehind for a few years. I also run a private webhosting service on a Windows Server 2008 infrastructure, which is why I'm confident you do not have to migrate to MySQL. I see that you are from Belgium. Interestingly enough, I'm going on a business trip to India this upcoming weekend. I have about a 2 hour stop-over in Brussels. If it was longer, I would have suggested meeting to discuss details. My suggestion as a solution to your problem is to ditch the local webserver and just have everything in the cloud. I am suggesting that you use Windows Azure so that you can still use SQL Server as the database. I have experience in developing and deploying in Windows Azure.
