With a view to expanding the services of her salon to include tanning facilities, Natalia attended the auction. She bid £100 for the five sunbeds knowing that they were worth at least £1000. This was the only bid, but because it was significantly below the value of the sunbeds, the auctioneer, on the instruction of the seller of the sunbeds, withdrew the sunbeds from the auction. At the start of June 2022, Natalia could see that the work by Phat Designs had slowed due to the increasing cost of materials and labour. Worried that the work would not be completed on time, Natalia sent an email to Phat Designs promising an extra £2000 for the work to be completed as agreed. That same month, Natalia’s brother-in-law, Olufeme installed a hot tub in the salon’s garden as a surprise for Natalia. On discovering this, Natalia promised to pay him £500. Natalia was also approached by a Patrina, a local furniture seller who had three salon chairs to sell. Natalia stated that they ‘must be chairs that can recline fully because I need to be able to line them up to the sinks when washing hair.’ Patrina assured Natalia that the chairs would recline fully and handed the order form to Natalia to complete.
