Structural optimization is used to design efficient lightweight components for a range of different engineering applications from automotive and aerospace to civil and marine structures. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is a heuristic optimization algorithm inspired by the process of natural selection, relying on bio-inspired operators such as mutation, crossover and selection. The aim of this work is to develop a structural optimization method using, in order to find the best material distribution within a structure.
