I have two servers on a VPN; the two servers are located one in California and the other in Toronto. They can see each other using a private IP address (eg. 192.168.x.x or 10.10.x.x) or using a network name.
The two servers are used as repository for technical documents, and the team of technical writers (TW) is quite small: 2 TWE in California and two TW in Toronto. For bandwidth reason they work on their country's server. The California team works on documents on the Toronto server, and the Toronto team works on the Toronto server.
The two servers are aligned every night using the replication method of Alfresco, that works without problem. The IT server is replicated on the Toronto and the Toronto is replicated on the California: this way the content of the two server is kept identical.

## Deliverables
I have two servers on a VPN; the two servers are located one in California and the other in Toronto. They can see each other using a private IP address (eg. 192.168.x.x or 10.10.x.x) or using a network name.
The two servers are used as repository for technical documents, and the team of technical writers (TW) is quite small: 2 TWE in California and two TW in Toronto. For bandwidth reason they work on their country's server. The California team works on documents on the California server, and the Toronto team works on the Toronto server.
The two servers are aligned every night using the replication method of Alfresco, that works without problem. The IT server is replicated on the Toronto and the Toronto is replicated on the California: this way the content of the two server is kept identical.
During the working hours the two team however could act on the same documents and we need a method to check-in / check-out the documents on the two server in this way
? IF the documents exists - i.e. the team is acting on a document already replicated on the two servers, the check-out of a document on a server should trigger the check-out of the document on the other server, so that the other team cannot modify the same document
? IF the document DOESN'T EXIST, the document must be instantly replicated and checked out on the other server, so that the colleagues are aware of the new document being created
The scripts should be triggered by the user action on one server (check-out or document creation).
The quotation deals with the implementation of these scripts and instructions on how to install them on existing Alfresco server. We are currently using Community version 3.4d
