There is 1 thing wrong with the way you are using the SQL for the Access database; and another thing that can be done to speed it up which I can tell you after seeing the database itself. If you select me I can show you the mistake and make the recommendation to speed up the query. Bests, Larry

Hello. Because queries are quite simple, it is possible to optimize performance tuning indexes only. I'm not a great expert in ASP, but I can tell you what you are missing indexes. Can you send me the structure of your database? Thanks.

I would replace all of your ad hoc queries with stored procedures. There are also several DB optimizations you can make to speed up the response time.

A few things that you should be doing. Not sure how many column are in each table, but it would be better if you do the select with the required only columns. Do not use Select * Do you have indexes on these table on the columns used in the Where clause Are you querying again for the second open? can you not reuse the record-set created in the first one? Do you keep adding and deleting records from this database? if so do a compact database and this will improve the performance to some extent

One thing that you need to do is always have a compact database routine running. The problem with Access is that it is not designed for high volumes of traffic. You should have went with SQL Express instead. In order to optimize your queries you need to make sure that you place indexes on columns that are frequently used. As you can see I have some experience with this type of problem, but you ultimately need to move to SQL Express at a minimum. When using SQL Express you can connect using SQL Management Studio and run the query analysis tool. This will pin point bottle necks. Also, depending upon the queries that you have written you made need to use NOT EXISTS to speed up querying. I look forward to helping you further if I already haven't problem you with an answer.
