php defunct slowing zen cart

There is this PHP defunct process that is killing the cpu of my ecommerce. The process use all the cpu and make the site very slow. I am told that it is bad coding in my php that is running the process. I have observed the system process for few hours and notice that the defunct php eat about 70% cpu every second. I have Zen cart 1.39, and hostgator as hosting company. The defunct processs seems to happen, when I am in log in admin or I am on the site. I need someone who can help me clean the PHP defunct zombie that is killing my site.
