Windows XP, 2000 and 2003 Server has built in firewall capabilities - not the "Windows firewall" but within the IP Security Policy snap-in in MMC. I would like to be able to create a user-friendly, centralized management platform for this functionality. Using this software I should be able to create different "zones" with different IP security policies within and outside the zones. A graphical interface would be best where I could draw the zones myself. Firewall features would be the same as any other firewall - filtering TCP. UDP, IP, in both directions. Pre-made drag-and-drop policies would be helpful; for example, FTP. I also want flexibility to add more features in the future - to manage other Windows security features, or to manage Linux ipfilter firewalls using the same interface so the OS is transparent to the management application. I prefer no agent on the client; this should use existing MS management protocols. If that is not possible, a small-footprint agent may be acceptable.
