We have situation in our ongoing project. We need to show videos to our user. For this we apply certain security levels like user registration, purchased product leveldetermining access to content and even getting the hardware ID of the user machine to authenticate the user. But after doing all this when video is viewed then user is able to download that video and also can capture the stream which we really don’t want. For this we want to apply digital rights management so that the videos, which we release to the end user, contains a DRM header and when media player plays this video then it will send a request to our server to authenticate the user and if authenticated then the user will view the video.? But user should not need to enter any username or password etc. The video package (which will consist of video + DRM header) needs to be built at runtime because the user credentials which the header sends to our server will be different for every user even if they want to view the same video because every user has different number of views per video and also user machine is registered on our server so that user can only view the video on the registered machine. For all these reasons we want to create the video package on the fly. The video size may be up to 500MB. Also we need to invoke the process to make packaged video from within our .aspx page because before creating the package we also need to perform certain authentications and if authentication is successful then the package will be created. In all we need to make DRM based video packages, DRM licensing server and streaming server to stream the [url removed, login to view] way we have tested security of the video content is by using REALplayer. e.g. Previously we could not download youtube videos. Now if you have realplayer installed on your machine it enables you to download youtube or any other video content unless it has a DRM header embedded in it.
