As to to your project, we will assign a full-time developer for 10 days for the project with the following approach: 1. We prepare a statement of work (SoW) for the tasks you have outlined. For that, we will need some clarifications regarding the functions (e.g. do you need an iOS app as well? What functions do you need after scanning? Move, receive, ship, etc.). We can do it either before or after the bid is accepted (would actually prefer before) in frame of an 1-hour Skype call. 2. I have set up a barcode system a lot like you describe for a tool rental facility. Each tool has a barcode and each shelf location has one as well. When a tool is stored, the operator scans the tool barcode and then scans the location. The barcodes can be scanned by any smart phone, iPod touch, or tablet with a camera and barcode reader software. The database software operates via web server (http request), the user does not have to type anything. The database can be read and updated from any web browser. The barcodes can be in 2 sizes on the pallet for near/far scanning. Adding disposition (broken, etc.) is easily accommodated. The barcodes can be provided as a PDF and you can reprint as needed.
