I have stocks sale records that i need to be manipulated to go into a tax program.
The problem is the partial stock sales denoted by a P at the end of the stock sale line
There are a total of approx 3300 records but about 550 that
are partial sales which would have to be recalculated
Example line of stock sales
Date Time Symbol Description Exchange Shares Price Amnt Comm Curr Base Total Code
1 2002-04-05 11:29:43 BRCD RDBK 100 26.8300 -2,683.00 -1.00 USD -2,684.00
2 2002-04-05 11:30:15 BRCD ISLAND -100 26.8910 2,689.10 -1.00 USD 2,688.10
3 2002-04-08 13:55:16 BRCD ISLAND -68 26.1600 1,778.88 -1.00 USD 1,777.88 P
4 2002-04-08 13:55:16 BRCD ISLAND -32 26.1600 837.12 0.00 USD 837.12 P
Lines 3 and 4 are partial sales denote by the "P" at the end of the line.
The 2 partial sales line need to be added into one line
Ex. lines 3 and 4 shares are -68 and -32 totaling -100
The price is calculated by price values of line 3 and 4
1778.88 and 837.12 total = 2616.00 the commission value
is just pulled from the first partial line. In this case -1.00
The total for the line would be price plus commission
in this case 2616 -1
final line output of line 3 and 4 would be
2002-04-08, 13:55:16 BRCD ISLAND -100 26.16 2616.00 -1.00 USD 2615
line 4 can be retain in the data but may flagged at the end with
an x to denote that it has been processes
Most partial are 2 lines, but there some that are 3 lines
Need either data set after manipulation or small program
that would go throught data set and ask or desired operation
of specific fields of 2 or 3 line partials
More detailed explaination would be given upon contract bid
would like work to be compleated as soon as possible.
Lines are tab delimited text file : see attachment file
Thanks
