We are looking to create a number of parsing applications to screen-scrape/parse college websites. The applications will each parse a separate school/university. The goal of this project is to find a small handful of offshore (chinese/indian/etc..) developers that we can potentially bring on board for our startup here in the Bay Area (US). Each application will be written in either Perl/PHP/Java, and run on Linux. The app should also use XPath/XML/XQuery functionality as possible. The app will have to parse the section of the college website, and return the information as we require. Each app should take approximately 5-6 hours to create/test. Each app should extract the required information, and write the results in a comma delimited text file. We anticipate that we will offer $1-2 per each application. Given that RentaCoder doesn't allow for payments less than $5.00(US), the contest will require the user to complete 2-3 applications, instead of one. We will provide you with the schools to parse should we come to an agreement. If you're interested, we'll have a further conversation, and/or point you to our website with further information regarding this process... Example sites will be: [login to view URL] [login to view URL] [login to view URL] -etc... Thanks -Bruce ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). --------------- -Code should be written in either Perl/PHP/Java -Code should use XPath/XML/XQuery as possible -Code should run on Linux from the command line -Code should be well documented/commented -Code should provide output as a comma delimited text file -Code should allow user to enter a semester/year and extract resulting information ## Platform -Code should be written in either Perl/PHP/Java -Code should use XPath/XML/XQuery as possible -Code should run on Linux from the command line -Code should be well documented/commented -Code should provide output as a comma delimited text file -Code should allow user to enter a semester/year and extract resulting information -Example of Extracted Information -Course -Course Name -Room Number -Prof Number -Etc...
