Hello,
I'm searching for a new Apache Mod for my "1-Click-Hoster"-Website [login to view URL] (german only). At the moment we try to send the files through php to the user, but thats very bad for the system als slows down the speed.
If you're interessted in programming a new Apache Mod, then we will give about $50 - $100 away. You have to know a lot about Apache, MySQL, PHP and Linux (Debian 3.1).

The "SECRET_HASH" is a MD5-Hash from a unknown password, the current unix-time, the file id in database, server id (srv*.[login to view URL]) and the user-id.
If a user downloads a file, the downloadserver reconstruct the filehash with the sent parameters (unixtime, fileid, ...) and if is the right hash, then he will accept the download and try to send the file in PHP with fopen, fgets, echo $buffer, ...
With an Apache Mod it would be a lot faster and more efficent.
I hope you understand what I mean.

My bid is for Apache to translate the URL, for PHP to authenticate the information, and turn it back to Apache for the download.
I would submit that you don't need a new Apache module as you can do what you need using mod_rewrite and an authentication script. PM me to discuss details. --rjspotter
