Browser Window Management

I am opening windows to download pdf's for viewing or saving.

I need to be able to do a few 'tweaks' that I am not able to do:

1. Offset-stack the (multiple) child document windows in a selected screen area. At present, the new windows start out on top of the 'home' window, but then disappear behind it when the download of the pdf file completes. I want the 'main' (not full screen-size) window to remain where it is, but I don't want the other windows to disappear behind. The 'look & feel' is a central window where the user can choose multiple docs, then move to each of the doc windows at will. It is a pain to have to 'dive' for the child windows.

2. Keep track of the child windows, and provide for closing them all with a button-click when the user isdone (so the user doesn't need to hunt them down individually).

3. Although I can supress the location display in the browser address window of the child window, I want to be able to write a user-friendly name there, and on the status bar(actual files names are not meaningful to the user, as the actual file names are GUID's). It appears that Adobe Acrobat takes up the status bar. It would be OK not to be able to write to the status bar, as long as I can ID the docs so the user knows which doc he is looking at (probably in the address window).

Outside the above open requirements that I am asking for help on, I can control most of the process with the following code (and any solutions need to be compatible with this approach):

if (btn=="Send") { [url removed, login to view]("http://localhost/WebTestHierUpdate/[url removed, login to view]"+docid+".pdf&"+"name="+docname+".pdf","_blank","toolbar=no, location=no, directories=yes, status=docname, menubar=yes, scrollbars=yes, resizable=yes, copyhistory=yes, width=600, height=600") }
