Automatic Stock Update

Need to have nightly product stock updating automated. It has already been done using macros/queries in Access 2000, but it isn't all smooth and automatic. Here are the basic steps: Import raw text file using import specs. Compare to product database, mark duplicate records, make new table of products included, delete text file. Add some column together for totals. Format prices, discount amounts. Make changes in product database - price, discount amount, stock amount (coded to 3 values, not actual amount), also one other field may be changed. Changes are made avoiding records of products that are on sale - determined by flag in field. Those steps are all being done by queries, controlled by macros, but need to be, uh, bettered. The following things have not been done at all - Keep track of all changed records only, for sql server update via script. Export changed records to a text file? The raw file is downloaded automatically. Currently, I have to unzip and rename it, and then start the importing. I would like to have as much of that automated as possible. Also, automation of getting the file uploaded for the script to update the SQL Server database. And if you can write that script.... ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Work takes place on a Windows XP computer, using Access 2000.
