We're looking into the possibility to have an iphone app created.
Details are unclear yet so I'll try to outline the scope of the project.
The idea is to create an iphone app that reads and shows the status of an telephone system (PBX).
The phone switch is owned by a company. Employees use it to make calls to each other and other people.
It's running on linux.
The PBX has a queue feature; if people want to reach the company, they call and get placed in a queue.
They will be connected to an employee as soon as one is available.
The PBX has some status items, like:
* Is the system running
* How many active calls are there now
* How many people are waiting in a queue.
We would like the iphone app to show this status.
So the app will have settings (to be set by the phone user):
* IP Address of the PBX
* Port on which to connect to the PBX
* Username to connect to the PBX
* Password to connect to the PBX
When this is set, the app should try to connect to the PBX.
This is done with the telnet protocol ('socket').
On another linux system you would do:
telnet <ipaddress> <port>
But in this case, it has to be done by the app.
After that connection is made, a string including the username and password should be sent to the server (PBX).
The server will respond with an string which says login is succesful or not.
After making succesful connection, app will send a sequence of status information requests.
It will cache the result and display it to the user.
There will probably be approximately 5 fields (like the 3 status items mentioned above).
In the future the app will be expanded to show more information and allow the user to actually make changes on the system.
We're looking for either real bids to create this app or a price-range (between $x and $y) depending on the details.
Included in the project will be all the work necessary to get the app created, working, and ready for our customers to purchase.
Selected coder will of course get access to a PBX to test against.
Please send me any questions or remarks you may have.
