Hi, This is not a real bid for u project, I just was puzzle about running a netbeans in a raspberry. If u check the requierements for MPLAB XIDE is 1GB or ram min, and in theory a pi 3 will do, but for a Xwindows app like netbeans u need to put a lot of memory for the GUI in the video card, and the pi HW share pi RAM to the video card, i read a link that for running netbeans in pi u need to split the pi memory and use 256MB for the GPU, that will left some 750MB for linux. And MPLAB XIDE with 1GB of ram even in a INTEL/pc is really slow, for run in a pi you will need to add a lot of swap, and sd card in a pi are really slow, that will create a very slow environment in a pi, in the case u can run MPLAB in the pi, also there is the javafx issue... lots of problems, i guess will be better for u to use a PC for development or a diff tool in the pi... or maybe use Xwindows outside the pi for the MPLAB part, is that is posible for MPLAB and for u project. Questions: - the Pi is not x86 (Intel) based processor so it cant execute MPLABx software. There are open source PIC assemblers and programmers that can run natively on the Pi, so if that's all you need you can already achieve it. - why do you need to execute MPLABx on embedded device, we could do over PC. I think you need it for remote programming. - it is a serial programming for MODBUS protocol, so in case you need it forward over ethernet/TCP then use current serial to TCP converter.

I am working in an Electrical designing company in Toronto, Canada. I have many experience with similar type of projects to complete from start to finish. Besides, I am open to provide more support in the future if required. I don't know budget is an concern or not and if you have any plan for mass production or not. Because then I feel Bill of Material (BOM) cost can be reduced hugely. In future more options can be added like more sensors, Cloud connection, User defined App and notification to app based on user setting to tell a few of them.
