Dear All,
I am currently working on a voice/network architecture in Libya to connect to our HQ in Malta.
Due to the limited infrastructure available here, we had no other option but to opt for satellite internet connectivity.
While the bandwidth is acceptable, latency is over 800ms in most cases, this is resulting in slow DNS resolution and a slow overall browsing experience.
I've have a Linux box functioning as an asterisk server. My idea was to set up this box as a dns server as well, cashing dns requests should significantly increase the speed of resolutions and help improve the browsing expirience. The only limitation which needs to be overcomed is that our dns server is the windows domain controller located in Malta and group policy enforcement features etc need to be maintained.
I've already configured the dns server using BINDS however its not resolving properly, I am not a dns expert and I need to have this setup ready asap.
I require a DNS/Linux Professional to evaluate the validity of my setup (and make any suggestions - Resources considerations visavi asterisk would also be appreciated), get the dns server up and running correctly, and configure it to work properly with the windows domain.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Gordon
