We need performance tuning recommendations for our web server. With 2-3 million PVs/month, we run into occasionally significant performance problems.
We're running RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.7 with MySQL 5.0, Apache 2.2. (Our website runs on the CodeIgniter framework on PHP 5.3.) Hardware is a dedicated server with (4) Xeon 2.4GHz CPUs and 3 GB RAM.
We need to know a few things:
#1 - what configuration improvements could we make to reduce/eliminate performance problems?
#2 - what hardware (memory or other) improvements should we make to support the software configuration?
#3 - could our database be modified to improve performance?
I have experience in a high volume data center utilizing Apache, MySQL and PHP. This is a regular occurrence and I can give you a solution based on well thought calculations of configuration and system performance.
