Bloc Detection

I would like someone to process a black and white bufferedimage. I would like all the pixels of the blobs to be numbered seperately i.e. all pixels in region 1 have pixel value 1, etc. It would be good if the code ignored regions of a certain specified width x height and changed those pixel values to a certain value e.g. 0 The code needs to be written preferably in Java as a single function taking the parameter of a bufferedimage and outputting the new numbered image. This has been advertised here as our usual programmer is not available at the moment. Please ask if you have any questions.
