Augmented Reality!!

Hi, We are looking to develop an AR tool for a community of JEWELRY artists. The AR tool (as we call it) will be integrated within the community website but we will also provide each artist with an "embed code" which they can use on their own website as well (obviously only showing their own collection). More generally we'd like the tool to be so flexible that people can create a selection, get the embed code and use it on any site. We have more use cases which we will upload shortly. As a good example of what can be accomplished view: [login to view URL] however if you try the real tool on [login to view URL] the tracking is severely lacking and we'd require better tracking than that, even on a laptop-webcam which many people will use. We have the rendering under control through our own teal as well as building database etc etc. So most important to us is that you can provide this exceptional tracking experience. If necessary we have a flash developer for front end. We also have a team to work on database integration into our own website. === following discussions we have adjusted the project as follows === Several issues: 1) we prefer to have a markerLESS solution for hand, neck (necklace) and ears (earrings). Perhaps implementing/expanding mesh algorithm as published by Fua et al. for face and neck? [login to view URL] Questions: how would you approach properly tracking of translation/rotation of hand, face and torso (for neck)? If this is not possible then a markerbased solution for the hand but the "head" will still have to be markerless. In any case the marker needs to be hidden for example by using this algorithm: [login to view URL] 2) Roll out schedule: we will split up the project in sub-projects: == 2a) IPad app for the hand (fingers = ring) launched before late January After late January: == 2b) Adjust Ipad app to web-app == 2c) Web app for face and neck == 2d) Ipad app for face and neck == 2e) Iphone and Android app 3) Since Flash launched player v 11, we now think it's possible for flash to show 3D models. In case we use flash the rendering engine would no longer be Ogre but one those workign with flash (Away3d, Alternativa3D etc) as front end. (C++ most likely for tracking etc.). If you think java, silverlight or html5 are better suited, feel free to mention them! We are still open to Java but there will have to be good reasons for it.
