I'm a freelance illustrator specializing in hand drawn/painting art. I draw freehand with, ink pen/brush, pencils/pens, markers and/or water colour. I do childrens illustrations, cartoons, comics, whimsical art, doodle art etc. I would love to illustrate for a children's book. Please look at my portfolio for examples of my art. I will do rough sketches first for you to approve, before I do the real illustration. I can do one or two full page A4 illustration a week depending on what sort of illustrations you want. Also depending on how detailed the illustration need to be. Smaller illustrations can be made faster. (The most detailed A4 illustrations in my portfolio takes 16 hours to make). All illustrations are made by free hand on paper and then scanned to a digital file. How many illustrations do you need? How big illustrations do you need? I would like a copy of the book for future reference and illustrators name in the book.

The first step which I undertake in order to illustrate a Children's Book is to begin good communication with the client. This is necessary in order to determine the style, period and number of illustrations needed to complete the project. I need to know what you want. It is important to communicate with the author(s) in order to get a better feel for what the person(s) see or visualize to compliment their writing. What the author sees in their head.....may be different than what the artist/illustrator sees. Also the style and approach, age group being written for, and the culture...all need to be taken into account to complete Children's illustration(s). The children's market is very unique and highly competitive.....so I always provide an example for the author using a page or part of their story of choice. This is important because we both need to "feel like we are on the same page." Kids look at the pictures. That's the rule. I can provide any style/colour/black and white illustration in any art medium you want. I will not create work for publication until I KNOW what the client wants. I will make changes (within reason) to the work if the client see's something else they want to add. My work can be described as that of a highly talented illustrator - who can produce full colour or black and white illustration in any style and use of any medium and ground.
