A tool that will pull data from a spreadsheet and display in an easy to read format

Would you like this tool to be developed within Excel or another executable application which can read the data from Excel file and can also provide options to configure what to read from Excel file. I am well versed with writing macros in Excel, Word etc.. I have used written macros extensively for Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint etc. for automation of various tasks. I am also equally comfortable with .Net and can build this tool in .Net which will read the Excel file and display the data in desired format. I have more than 10 years of experience to my credit.
