Analyse requested permissions on top 20 smartphone apps

We need to conduct an analysis of type of smartphone location permissions requested by the top 20 applications. This research will be part of a larger industry study that will be published. The analysis will include: Top 20 iOS and Android smartphone apps in the categories: 1) Food & Drink 2) Shopping For each of the following countries: 1) United States 2) United Kingdom 3) Australia We will provide the above lists in a google spreadsheet. There is carry over of top apps country by country (eg, Ebay's app is the same across all three countries) so in all, there are 99 unique apps to analyse on each smartphone platform. For each of the apps, you will need to determine what, if any, permissions are requested by the app. This will require you to look at the app permission details. For Android, these will be as listed in the Google Play Store - it is not necessary to download the app. For iOS apps - you will need to download the app and inspect the permissions requested. For iOS, you will also need to note if the app has a coaching screen (reference will be provided) - a descriptive page shown during first use of app explaining why permission was requested. Important note: All of the apps are free but for iOS you may need to setup an iTunes account in each of the respective countries to view permissions. For each app, we will need results in a spreadsheet and listed like such: 1) app name 2) platform (iOS or Android), 3) location permission requested (yes/no), 4) type of location permission requested (for iOS: 'Always', 'While Using'....for Android: 'approximate', 'precise' or both) 5) Bluetooth permission requested (yes, no) 6) for iOS only: permissions coaching screen (yes, no)
