This is a data cleansing project in Excel.
The task is to transfer data from one Excel spreadsheet to another. The first spreadsheet contains tables from an old MS Access database, one worksheet is one table in MS Access. The second spreadsheet contains templates for the new SQL Server database, one worksheet is one table in the SQL Server.
You need to transfer data from the Source Spreadsheet (SS) to the Destination Spreadsheet (DS), column by column. This process cannot be fully automated, because the data in the SS must be cleaned before being transferred to the DS. Therefore, the data should be transfer column by column, with clean up and check up.
The SS workbook has about 30 worksheets, the DS workbook has about 8 worksheets.
The SS workbook contains worksheets of Customers, Stock Items, Purchases etc. There are about 300 customers, 500 Items and 500 Purchase Invoices. The total size of SS in Excel is about 1 MB.
It took me about 20 work hours to do the first such transfer myself.
This project is for one transfer from SS to DS, but we have about 40 identical projects. If your performance on the first project is good, then you may be invited to continue this work over the next two months.
If you are short-listed on this project, you will receive the SS and DS without data but with a count of records in each, to get a better idea of the amount of work and to adjust your bid accordingly.
This is a basic level work, which requires no special Excel skills, but it requires from you to be persistent and very, very tidy. The criterion of your achievement is how easily and quickly your DS can be imported into SQL Server. If SQL Server rejects your DS and I have to do many corrections, then you have not done your job well.
