Dear Madam or Sir,
For the past six years, I have had the honor to be an 8th grade English and Reading teacher. My passions for writing and creative construction have aided me in being an effective teacher, in that I have made a majority of my lesson plans and resources. Not finding suitable (and often substandard) resources, spurred me to develop my own curriculum for my classroom.
Creative lesson plans are the key to captivating (and retaining) a middle school students’ limited attention span. You will find in my portfolio, a sampling of my extensive database of self-created, original curriculum materials. My curriculum has earned praise from my superiors and colleagues alike, and has been the foundation of my students’ successful state-administered test scores. In my plans, I have integrated technology, hands-on learning, and have used entertaining games to relay my lesson’s message. Taking that extra step, and doing my job on a higher plane of ingenuity, has given me the experience needed to be a valuable member of any creative team.
I’ve discovered that the realms of education and publishing go hand and hand, in many respects. As I’ve expanded my resume, and have embarked into the world of free-lance writing and publishing, it is apparent that to be successful in my professional fields, each vocation requires a wealth of creativity and flexibility. My years of teaching and creating my own publications, as well as my experiences in free-lance writing have given me the confidence to tackle any assignment that you send my way with vigor and creativity. I have proven my versatility and inventiveness time and time again; please let me prove it to you!
Sincerely,
Lenzi Hart
