Customization of wordpress image gallery plugin

I am working on a website where we want to have a certain type of slideshow. I have found a couple wordpress plugins but they each have some issues that don't match what we're looking for. One is close but the javascript and css need to be revised a bit to match what we need. I found this "Slick" slider - [login to view URL] - and want it to work like the Variable Width option they show. But I wanted to find a similar plugin where we could edit the slider in the wordpress dashboard for easy updating without having to work with code because we have a lot of galleries/images to add. I found MaxGalleria with the "slick" slider add-on - [login to view URL] They say it includes quite a few options and it's responsive, but it's not working as needed. Right now it looks like this on my test page - [login to view URL]~xtcdes5/test/ - the first 3 images are cut off on the bottom half and the last image is small. It seems to be showing the images at the full size they are saved at no matter what the slider height is set to. I could re-size all the image to be the same height, but that's a pain for now & future if it's a fairly easy fix to set the slider to show the images all at 100% and then the width be variable (which it already does) because we have some vertical and some horizontal images. So mostly the 100% height isn't working properly, and it's not very responsive (only shows one image at a time on mobile versus more of the slider). Basically we want it to work exactly like the gallery on this page - [login to view URL] - but also be responsive.
