We have an online application that is used to store documents for loans. When a loan is completed the documents and data currently stays on the server in a section called 'Completed'.
We want to build a feature that will take any loans older than 60 days and make a backup of the files, then delete the files and data from the system.
We also need to write a script that will delete any old files (PDF, Word, Excel) from the system after 6 months. This will be separate from the backup. It's purpose is to clean up any old files that may be laying around.
Project requirements are below:
Delete Script
- Once a week the script will search through certain folders and delete any files that were created more than 6 months ago.
- The folders to search are: /dealhighlights/, /dealhighlights-images/, /excel-exports/, /generated/, /loan-applications/, /reports/, /temp/, /upload/, /uploadqs/, /ZipFile/
- The files types it will search for are .pdf, .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .jpg, .png, .gif, .pptx
Backup Script
- The backup script will run once every day
- It will check the database for loans that are older than 60 days (table contains created date).
- If a loan is 60+ days old the system will find all files associated with that loan (these are listed in the database) and place them in a zip file. The zip file will be put in a folder called /completed/ and the original documents will be deleted.
- The zip file should be named based on values in the database: loanname + propertyname + '.zip'
- Within the zip folder the documents will be separated into folders based on which user owns a document. (some loans have more than one user)
- A similar script to build this zip file already exists, but it will need to be altered to work with the auto-backup.
- After all of the files have been moved the script should clear the associated data from the database. The user profile will remain in the system, but the loan information and document information will be deleted.
