Automatic Room Lighting & Heating control with PIC microcontroller

The main aim of the project is to control the electrical appliances centrally using a PIC micro controller. For example, the lighting inside a room is to be operated only by detecting if a person is in the room using IR sensors as counters near the entrance of the door. And the lighting output intensity is also to be controlled based on the ambient lighting conditions in the room. This could be done by using an LDR as a sensor and to adjust the intensity of the lighting accordingly. Similarly, the heating inside a room is also to be controlled in a similar manner, a temperature sensor would be used to detect the temperature in the room and an output could be simulated and varied according to the detected temperature using a simple DC motor as fan. A small prototype of the entire system is to be designed along with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to achieve automatic and manual control of the devices at the same time. The GUI is to show the status of the light and heating. The main help i need in this project is to design the circuit and to write the PIC program to achieve the required control for the various inputs and outputs as specified, The entire circuit operation is to be simulated using Proteus Simulation Software. The entire project is to be expanded later on into a Virtual Power Plant(VPP) system concept. So having an experience in Virtual Power Plant would be a bonus to further continue this project later on.
