Dear Employer,
I'm not going to lie. This is my first time trying my hand at freelancing. The funny thing about college is you set aside your hobbies to train for a career that you believe will give you security in the future, and when you're finally out and about in some giant corporation with this annoying political structure, it only dawns on you then that the corporate life was never your dream to begin with. Here is what writing taught me that management never did: It taught me to be brave. It taught me to listen to my insides, to feel beyond structures and bounds. To think about people more than profit. To observe everything like an experiment because the stories that need to be told are almost always the ones that are buried by the grave. The beautiful thing about writing is that it isn't limited to just the writers, to just pen & paper, or overused keyboards. Writing can be told in every shape and form: the curve of the mouth; the softness of the eyes; the way somebody moves when she wants to cave into herself and cry. Everything is writing, and this has been my experience. I think this is good because writing isn't only about ideas. It's about living. It's about turning up the volume of the world. So I write. I have learned to jot down details & turn words over until they sound what they're supposed to sound like. I can do different styles & perspectives. You're asking for someone who loves writing-- is in love with it like a calling... well, here I am.
