Good afternoon,
Thank you for the details of your search for a writer.
While a writer at heart,I graduated from college with a degree in behavioral science; a field that I was fascinated with until I discovered my true love was for writing. My first "real" job after college was as a staff writer for a small weekly newspaper. My editor saw the hunger in me to bring quality reporting to our community and he hired me with no experience. His gamble paid off and within a few months on the job, I wrote an article that would later receive accolades from the Maine Press Association.
However, the small-town nature of the newspaper meant limited resources for the publisher. I was taught how to properly edit peer and community produced articles, help proofread the overall newspaper before it went to print, and even to lay out a section of the newspaper every week.
A year ago, my youngest daughter was born and I decided to stay home, raise my family and freelance ghostwrite and edit on the side. My focus is also on quality, not quantity; unlike some other freelancers who take on more projects than they can handle, I generally only take one project on at a time.
I would love to share some of my writing with you if you are interested in learning more about my skills. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or would like to see samples of my work.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Mariah Patterson
