ASP.NET connect and manipulate data in 2 data sources

I am seeking someone who is has experience with the following technologies and scenario to create a prototype. The intention is to create an example of the desired implementation so I can pass to my developer to minimize his learning curve on how to achieve the results in our application. We use ASP.NET. C# and Oracale 9 for a tracking application. We need to create an integration element with another application. Effectively, when a record is completed in the tracking app, we need to insert data from a view into another Orcale database on another server on the network. I have been told that ASP.NET allows to connect and manipulate data in any number of heterogeneous data sources - so, I am sssuming that the status change function could also do the connection and insert to the other system. For this task we could do a simple test - create a database with ProjectID, Name, Status and then upon change to Completed status, insert the current record's ProjectID, Name and Status into the other database.
