I am trying to read/process very simple hand-written forms (at most 2 fields per form) using OCR/ICR for storage in a database and intend to do so using PHP scripts hosted on my personal website. I want to try queFX () for ICR but cannot successfully set it (and its prerequisites) up on my server. We have a Student Information System web application written in C#, MS SQL, .Net 4.0. Teachers can login and create assignments and enter assignment scores. We would like to add a new feature that will allow a teacher to create an answer bubble sheet (with assignment id and student ids already bubbled in - teacher will set the number of questions), print it and hand them out. After the assessment is over teacher will collect answer sheets, scan them into a pdf, upload this pdf back to our system where it will be processed and persisted into database as students assignment scores. We are looking for an OCR / ICR system for processing handwritten forms in English with decent accuracy. Paper based forms shall be scanned to create image or PDF document and this shall be submitted to OCR/ICR system. The transformed text/document should then be kept for manual validation and then form data should be entered into the database.
