At Whackjob (www.whackjob.co.uk) we pride ourselves on our innovative and striking artwork, which we screen print by hand onto our shirts, jerseys and hoodies. You can see the sort of thing we have done here: http://www.whackjob.co.uk/designs/

We are currently embarking on a re-launch which will include several new designs. One of these we would like to come from a new artist, with a view to them producing a series over time, a bit like our "A Bit Abstract" one here: http://www.whackjob.co.uk/designs/a-bit-abstract/

We always try to convey a theme with every design, to have some meaning as well as a visual impact. Up to now these have all been based on mountain biking terms. However, Whackjob is now expanding into a wider brand taking in all kinds of activities. Festivals, live music, parties, dance, clubbing and socialising as much as sports such as parkour, kayaking, martial arts, yoga, skiing, skateboarding, and of course -mountain biking. Our new designs may reference one or more of these - or just be about that kind of lifestyle and attitude in general.

So the brief is: Using no more than 3 colours and in a way that is suitable for screen printing (no blends!), produce a design that will look amazing on a Whackjob tee, while conveying part or all of what would appeal to a typical Whackjob customer: active, fun-seeking, social, extrovert... and always looking to extract the maximum enjoyment out of everything. (A bit mad always helps too.)

You can include a word or phrase if you like. It can be direct, literal, abstract - any style you like as long as it can be separated out into 3 colours or fewer. It can directly refer to one or more activities, a general feeling or experience - whatever you like. As long as it engages the mind as well as the eyes and conveys the Whackjob brand, we'll be delighted to see it.

We'd welcome any questions at all. This is an opportunity to get a good series of work for a talented and (VERY importantly) reliable artist. If we get more than one great submission we may well use more than one artist.

And yes, you can include your signature or logo in the design - we believe in collaborative marketing! Although it's not needed for the initial submission, we would expect the winner(s) to also create the design for the back of the garments -see our website for how we've approached these up to now. The price must be for full ownership of the rights to the image.

Ok, all - sorry for taking so long but key people are on holiday and we're still unable to agree completely! I'm afraid the best thing I can do is not to award this to any particular design, but we would like to discuss some ideas with some of you. I'll drop you all direct messages. Sorry it's not better news; it's our first time on this site so we'll learn for next time. Many thanks for the extraordinary efforts; some paid work will come of this - just not how we'd originally envisaged.
